PSC 7920
Overview
The Product and Service Code (PSC) system standardizes how the U.S. government classifies what it buys so spending can be consistently recorded, tracked, and analyzed across acquisition systems. PSCs are selected and reported in the Federal Procurement Data System (FPDS) and maintained through the PSC Manual issued on Acquisition.gov. 1
PSC 7920 identifies brooms, brushes, mops, and sponges. The PSC Manual specifies that 7920 includes squeegees and whisk brooms, and excludes hair brushes, toothbrushes, and paint or artists’ brushes. Agencies apply 7920 when the predominant items being procured are these non-chemical manual cleaning implements. 1

How to classify and buy under 7920
- Predominant-product rule: When a buy includes multiple product types, the PSC is chosen based on the predominant item. For example, mixed orders of implements and chemicals would be coded to the larger share (e.g., PSC 7920 vs. PSC 7930). 1
- Common purchasing channels: Under the GSA Multiple Award Schedule, SIN groupings for cleaning supplies include “Mops, Buckets, Wringers, Squeegees, Brooms, Brushes, Sponges” among other janitorial items, providing a recurring pathway for routine 7920 commodities. 4
