PSC 5350
Overview
The Product and Service Code (PSC) system classifies what the U.S. government buys so contract actions can be consistently recorded, searched, and analyzed across federal procurement systems. PSCs are maintained by GSA in the PSC Manual and are used in FPDS reporting to indicate the nature of the procured product or service. 1
PSC 5350 covers abrasive materials within Federal Supply Group 53 (Hardware and Abrasives). Per the PSC Manual, this class includes abrasive cloth and paper, powders, abrasive polishing compounds, metal-finishing abrasives, industrial diamonds and diamond dust, and rouge. Abrasive disks, stones, belts, and hones are separately covered under 5345. 2

Classification boundaries and notes
- 5350 is for bulk or consumable abrasive media and compounds; tools and attachments such as abrasive disks, stones, belts, and hones are classified under 5345, not 5350. 2
- The 5345 entry explicitly excludes dental abrasives and certain abrasive attachments; those exclusions do not appear in the 5350 entry. Item-specific determinations should follow the PSC Manual definitions. 2
FPDS reporting considerations
- The PSC is captured in FPDS as data element 8A to represent “what was bought” on each contract action; environmental attributes (e.g., recovered content, energy efficiency, biobased) are reported via data element 8L when applicable. 2
