PSC 2540
Overview
The Product and Service Code (PSC) is a governmentwide taxonomy used to classify the products, services, and research and development the U.S. government buys. PSCs appear on contract actions in FPDS/SAM, enabling standardized reporting, spend analysis, and category management; they are governed and updated through the PSC Manual maintained on Acquisition.gov. 1
PSC 2540 is the product PSC for Vehicular Furniture and Accessories within Federal Supply Group (FSG) 25, which covers vehicular equipment components. Per the PSC Manual, this class includes items such as automobile seat covers, shock absorbers, bumpers, windshield wipers, bumper guards, rear/side view mirrors, and vehicle heaters; it excludes speedometers (class 6680) and suspension-type shock absorbers (class 2510). Contract actions buying these items should be coded under PSC 2540 based on the predominant item being procured. 2

- Award data access: FPDS remains the authoritative searchable database during the SAM.gov migration; public reporting and ad hoc analysis are available via the SAM.gov Contract Data “DataBank.” 4
